Hi there! Thanks so much for taking the time to browse my portfolio and get to know me.
My name is Heidi. I love cooking, joyfully making a mess with art, anything to do with the ocean, and my dog.
I love the convenience of being a designer in the digital age, but have a penchant for the authenticity of analogue. My personal aesthetic tends to be feminine and delicate, but one of the things I love best about graphic design is the opportunity to step away from my visual identity and explore other styles.
From 2008-present, I have been employed by Decorating Your Life, a fantastic wholesale company that sells vinyl decals to craft stores around the United States. I was originally hired as production help, a part time job to help pay for university. I quickly discovered that I had an untapped passion and talent for design. In the past 8 years, I worked hard to develop the skills needed to succeed in this position.
In the summer of 2013, I began to realize that my self-guided learning had plateaued, and, if I was serious about being a designer, I needed to make a serious investment in my future. I applied for, and was accepted to, the Design Essentials certificate program through BCIT and Emily Carr. In October 2013, I packed my bags and moved to Canada!
The last year has been full of challenges and opportunities for growth… but I’m ready for a new challenge! If you like what you see here, please email me at heidi(at)heidifay(dot)com
