For this project, I challenged myself to create custom typography to accompany Mary Oliver’s poem “The Summer Day.” A field trip through my neighborhood provided me with all the building blocks to create this custom typography. I assembled each letter by hand and then photographed it. The next step was a little bit of photoshop work to expand my canvas and to make sure that the beautiful, natural qualities of the plants were on display. Last, the traditionally typeset poem was paired with the custom typography for a wild and precious composition.
