For this project, I was challenged to select a movie with a simple object in the title and design a film poster around it. I chose Humphrey Bogart’s 1941 film noir classic, The Maltese Falcon. My goal was for this poster to introduce the audience to the story of The Maltese Falcon, to draw them into its web of intrigue. Because the film’s narrative revolves around the dark, violent actions committed in pursuit of the Falcon. This is introduced to the audience through the simple, striking form of the falcon statuette. The menacing shadow hints at the dark, violent, film noir aspects of the movie.
